How to be a Habitat committee member:

1. Decide to be a part of the best group of volunteers in Chicago!

2. Be okay with committing to approximately monthly meetings for at least one year

3. Accept that we don't know all of the answers but that we have committees to help us figure them out

4. Contact us and we'll connect you with the right staff member or committee chair!






The construction committee assists in the planning, designing and permitting of our home building and repair programs. It also helps recruit and retain long-term volunteers for the work sites.


The family services committee assists in family recruitment, selection and education during the Habitat partnership process. It also helps with policy development, financial reviews, and one-on-one family support.






The purpose of the faith relations committee is to connect local congregations to the work of Windy City Habitat for Humanity by inviting them to active service.



The finance committee leads the annual budgeting process, oversees audit functions, and reviews and updates financial policy and procedure for both the affiliate and the ReStore.








Habitat Young Professionals is a newly forming group. Planned activities include social opportunities as well as events in support of Habitat's mission in Chicago.

The loan servicing committee ensures all Habitat loans are serviced professionally and according to policy. Members work with bank and housing counseling partner organizations to prepare families to be successful homeowners.








The marketing committee leads efforts to increase awareness of Habitat for Humanity in Chicago by telling the stories of families, volunteers, and donors. Members help create and promote these stories through multiple channels.



The neighborhood engagement committee is dedicated to planning and supporting neighborhood growth. Committee members help establish neighborhood needs, community partnerships, and action plans for holistically improving the neighborhoods in which Habitat builds.








The resource leadership team leads the outreach to current and future Habitat donors. The committee works together to brainstorm connections and opportunities for advancing the affiliate's work.



The site selection committee works to identify and apply quantitative and qualitative factors associated with successful homeownership when choosing future project target areas.






The women build committee plans and executes our annual Women Build event, an event that brings a community of women together to help build and fund the home of one of our female-led partner families.
