Block Build

Habitat for Humanity Chicago began an exciting initiative in 2012. For the first time in Chicago, our Habitat affiliate is engaged in building a block of houses, which will ultimately be 16 single family homes. This initiative is underway in the 34th Ward, which is located on the far south side of Chicago (119th & Union). The 34th Ward is the third largest geographical ward in the city. There are currently many building projects underway which include the Salvation Army and recently the largest solar plant was built in the ward. Within two blocks of our designated location, construction is underway for senior housing. We will be located in a TIF district and many other potential retail establishments may be forthcoming. Our families will also have access to CTA and Metra transportation lines.
