Wesley Walker

Windy City Habitat for Humanity

Wesley Walker is currently Executive Director of the Network of Woodlawn. His primary duty at the Network is to develop the capacity for data base tracking and management for the Network's comprehensive approach to community development in the Woodlawn community. His job also includes researching and developing fundraising opportunities in support of the Network's activities. Wesley has done similar work in Minneapolis, MN as Executive Director of Northway Community Trust. He also worked nine years as Program Officer for the Chicago Local Initiatives Support Corporation underwriting loans for affordable housing projects commercial in the Chicago land area.

Wesley was appointed to the Windy City Habitat for Humanity Board in 2013. Previous to his appointment to the Windy City affiliate board, Wesley served seven years as member of the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity board. He served as a co-chair of the Governance Committee, member of the Development Committee, Board liaison to the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, and Word of Hope Campaign committee member.

Wesley's strong passion for the Habitat for Humanity mission has inspired him to participate in several builds including the Carter Build Week in Thailand. Wesley has also participated in Habitat's Build Louder Campaign in Costa Rica.

Wesley is also member of the board of Heartland Democracy, an organization that supports dialogue on progressive perspectives. Past volunteer involvement includes United Way and other community support organizations.

Mr. Walker is dad to three adult children and is a resident of Hyde Park. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Cleveland State University and an MPA from American University in Washington DC.
